Hello
I am on VLC 3.0.6 Vetinari, and when I play certain files, video and subtitles don't appear. Instead, the screen stays black while white appears at the bottom of the screen about four times per second (when playing normally), as the VLC logo flickers on the screen. When messages are up with verbosity set to 2 (debug), it lags down to only 1 per second, where every third second gets two.
This only happens on certain files, and the only obvious difference is that in file properties, a file that works has a listed 'data rate' and 'total bit rate' under the 'Video' section of the 'details' tab, whereas a not working file has none listed. (I checked three working and two non-working)
My messages after only one second of playing the file are long enough that I need a Pastebin. https://pastebin.com/udqazqaR
VLC includes preset profiles and allows the creation of new ones. Keyboard shortcuts are supported, and they can be remapped for all major options of the media player.
I calculated that about 771 messages appear for every white flash (with messages set to verbosity 2) or about 167 per flash when it is playing normally. The flashes of white are at a constant pattern, but the VLC logo appears completely randomly.
After some studying, I can tell that messages appear just after each flicker, but there aren't any other trends to follow. I'm also not able to make VLC go fullscreen by double-clicking, I have to go to the video menu and click fullscreen.
